OHS Officer – Power and Gas

About the role

The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Officer will lead health, safety and environmental compliance for power and gas operations at the Lekki Free Zone site in Nigeria. The role ensures that safety management systems are robust, incidents are investigated promptly, and continuous improvement is embedded across the workplace.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular safety inspections, audits and hazard assessments.
• Develop, implement and maintain safety procedures and documentation.
• Deliver safety inductions, training programs, toolbox talks and emergency drills for employees and contractors.
• Investigate accidents, near‑misses and incidents, identify root causes and drive corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA and local regulations; manage permit‑to‑work systems.
• Monitor and enforce proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintain safety equipment.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly EHS reports and communicate updates to stakeholders.
• Participate in safety committees and develop emergency response plans.

Required profile

• Experience in occupational health, safety and environmental compliance within power or gas sectors.
• Familiarity with OSHA, EPA and local Nigerian safety regulations.
• Ability to conduct inspections, audits and incident investigations.
• Strong communication skills for training and reporting.
