National Consultant – Safe Schools Guide & IEC Materials (3‑Month)

About the role

UNICEF Nigeria is seeking a National Consultant to lead the development of a practical Safe Schools Guide and accompanying Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials for learners and teachers. The assignment is for three months and will support the implementation of national policies on school safety, security and violence‑free learning environments.

Key responsibilities

• Review existing national school safety policies, guidelines, and related documents.
• Draft a context‑responsive Safe Schools Guide that can be easily used by government actors, school leaders, teachers, and school‑based management committees.
• Develop IEC materials (posters, leaflets, digital content) tailored for learners, teachers, parents and communities.
• Incorporate feedback from UNICEF education specialists, government stakeholders and field partners.
• Provide recommendations to strengthen implementation of safety standards across schools.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary education in education, social sciences, humanitarian affairs or a related field.
• Proven experience in developing policy‑oriented guides or educational materials in low‑resource or humanitarian contexts.
• Familiarity with child protection, school safety frameworks and IEC best practices.
• Ability to work under tight timelines and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
