About the role

UNICEF is seeking a consultant to lead two thematic analyses of Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) data for Nigeria. The work focuses on longitudinal trends in child well‑being and on urban inequality across selected cities.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct a longitudinal and trend analysis of MICS3‑MICS7 datasets, emphasizing child survival (including 1,000‑day indicators) and learning outcomes.
  • Develop and validate a methodological framework in consultation with UNICEF and the National Bureau of Statistics.
  • Prepare a detailed analysis plan, synthesize existing inter‑agency findings, and perform micro‑data analysis.
  • Deliver three reporting products: a PowerPoint summary, a technical report, and a brief policy note.
  • Execute an urban and inequality analysis of child‑focused data for four selected urban areas, identifying intra‑urban disparities.
  • Facilitate virtual workshops to build partner capacity and gather feedback on methodology and findings.

Required profile

  • Advanced degree in statistics, demography, public health, economics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing large household survey datasets, preferably MICS.
  • Strong understanding of child‑well‑being indicators and urban inequality metrics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
