IT Operations Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a highly competent and result‑oriented IT Operations Specialist to join the dynamic team at Nile University of Nigeria. The role focuses on installing, configuring and maintaining the university’s CCTV/security camera systems and network infrastructure, ensuring reliable surveillance and secure, stable connectivity across all sites.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain IP CCTV cameras, NVRs and related hardware across multiple sites.
• Set up and manage video management software (VMS), remote viewing, recording schedules and storage.
• Configure, troubleshoot and maintain network equipment including routers, switches, access points and firewalls.
• Run, terminate and test structured cabling (Cat6 and fibre), including Power over Ethernet (PoE) setups.
• Monitor system health, perform routine maintenance, replace faulty equipment and apply firmware updates.
• Diagnose and resolve connectivity, video feed and hardware issues both on‑site and remotely.
• Maintain accurate documentation of network layouts, camera locations, device credentials and configurations.
• Support integration of access control, alarm and intercom systems where applicable.
• Advise on equipment purchases and system upgrades.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, IT, Telecommunications or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience installing, configuring and maintaining CCTV/IP camera systems and network infrastructure.
• Professional networking certification such as CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA.
• Demonstrated experience with structured cabling, network troubleshooting and testing tools.

Required skills

• IP CCTV cameras, NVRs, Video Management Software (VMS).
• Routers, switches, access points, firewalls (Cisco, Ubiquiti, TP‑Link).
• Structured cabling (Cat6, fibre) and PoE installations.
• Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, subnetting.
• Firmware updates, security best practices and documentation.
• Familiarity with CCTV brands (Hikvision, Dahua, Axis, Uniview).
