Medical Laboratory Scientist

About the role

The Medical Laboratory Scientist will conduct routine laboratory investigations across haematology, clinical chemistry, urinalysis and microbiology, ensuring accurate results and compliance with regulatory standards. This position involves managing daily lab operations and supervising support staff as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine laboratory tests in haematology, clinical chemistry, urinalysis and microbiology.
• Operate, calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment, and manage sample collection, processing and storage.
• Validate results, maintain quality control standards, and keep laboratory records, reagents and inventory.
• Ensure compliance with MLSCN regulations, maintain patient confidentiality, and oversee daily laboratory operations.

Required profile

• BMLS degree or recognized equivalent with current MLSCN registration and a valid practising licence.
• Minimum of 3 years post‑NYSC experience in a clinical diagnostic laboratory, preferably with experience operating haematology and chemistry analysers.
