Machinist – Workshop Operations & Maintenance

About the role

The Machinist will lead workshop activities, assigning tasks and manpower to ensure fabrication, welding and maintenance work are performed efficiently and safely. You will support both predictive and corrective maintenance of plant equipment while maintaining high standards of documentation and housekeeping.

Key responsibilities

• Assign tasks and manage manpower resources in the workshop.
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance according to Lafarge procedures.
• Oversee fabrication of components and supervise welding operations.
• Enforce safety regulations, report near‑miss incidents and maintain safe housekeeping.
• Transfer clear work instructions from supervisors to sub‑ordinates.
• Maintain accurate records of daily and weekly activities.
• Diagnose equipment faults and ensure compliance with health‑and‑safety legislation.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent NABTEB/City & Guilds qualification).
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in an industrial setting.
• Ability to develop shapes from engineering drawings.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
