About the role
The Legal Professional will advise management on legal, regulatory, contractual and operational risks while working closely with technology teams to embed compliance into digital products.
Key responsibilities
- Advise management on legal, regulatory, contractual, and operational risks.
- Collaborate with software developers and product teams during design, development, testing and deployment of digital products and AI‑powered solutions.
- Translate legal and compliance requirements into product specifications, safeguards, testing scenarios and operational procedures.
- Review technology contracts, commercial agreements, software licensing arrangements, confidentiality agreements and intellectual property provisions.
- Support compliance with Nigerian laws, including data protection and privacy requirements.
- Identify and assess legal risks associated with AI‑assisted decisions, automated workflows, data processing and digital services.
- Develop and maintain legal policies, compliance frameworks, risk registers and escalation procedures.
- Help establish human oversight, accountability and review mechanisms for technology‑assisted outputs.
Required profile
- 3–4 years of experience in technology law, data protection, privacy, regulatory compliance, commercial technology contracts or legal risk management.
- Practical knowledge of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and related regulatory obligations.
- Demonstrated experience drafting legal policies, reviewing contracts, conducting risk assessments or advising management.
- Ability to understand digital product workflows and translate legal requirements into actionable guidance for technical teams.
- Excellent legal research, analytical writing, communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong professional ethics, discretion and respect for confidentiality.
