Advisory Lead & Legal Counsel

About the role

The Advisory Lead & Legal Counsel will head OneBarrow’s advisory, legal and compliance functions, supporting business activities, client engagements, partnerships and programmes such as WorkRef and the MSP‑HR Network. The role blends legal counsel, business advisory, people‑operations guidance and commercial support.

Key responsibilities

• Lead client assessments, define service scopes, oversee engagements from consultation through implementation and renewal.
• Draft, review and negotiate employment contracts, service agreements, partnership and consultancy contracts, and manage contract execution and renewals.
• Provide people‑operations advice on recruitment, onboarding, performance management, grievance handling and policy development.
• Support WorkRef platform services, MSP‑HR network onboarding, service quality monitoring and complaint resolution.
• Maintain compliance calendars, identify legal and reputational risks and implement practical controls.
• Participate in business development, prepare proposals, support negotiations and identify renewal opportunities.
• Deliver training for staff, clients and network practitioners and develop case studies and guidance materials.

Required profile

• LL.B and B.L, called to the Nigerian Bar and eligible to practise.
• Minimum five years of experience in legal practice, corporate advisory, employment matters or commercial contracts.
• Proven ability to advise business owners, translate legal requirements into practical processes and manage client engagements.
• Experience with SMEs, HR technology or managed services is an advantage.
