Legal Officer

About the role

Magic Carpet Studio is seeking a proactive Legal Officer to support its fast‑growing advertising and media operations in Lagos. You will work closely with business units to structure partnerships, manage contracts, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Support commercial and strategic partnership initiatives, including negotiation of deals.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts, co‑production and distribution agreements.
• Oversee intellectual property portfolio, licensing administration, and brand protection.
• Prepare and manage investor agreements, term sheets, and fundraising documentation.
• Assist with corporate governance tasks such as board matters, entity management, minute‑taking and record compliance.
• Coordinate regulatory compliance frameworks, monitor updates and manage internal risk mitigation.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) with an active license to practice law in good standing.
• 3–5+ years of relevant legal experience, either in‑house or at a top‑tier law firm, with strong commercial contract exposure.
• Excellent negotiation, contract drafting and communication abilities.
• Solid understanding of corporate law, intellectual property and licensing.
• High attention to detail, strong business acumen and ability to handle multiple transactions in a fast‑paced environment.
