Legal and Compliance Officer

About the role

The Legal & Compliance Officer will lead the legal, regulatory and corporate governance framework for 21st CEsL and its subsidiaries. This role ensures full compliance with applicable laws, regulations and industry standards while proactively managing legal risk and safeguarding corporate interests. The officer serves as the principal legal advisor to executive management, providing strategic guidance on contracts and regulatory matters.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of legal, regulatory and corporate governance policies.
• Ensure the organisation operates in full compliance with all applicable laws and industry standards.
• Proactively identify, assess and mitigate legal risks across the business.
• Provide strategic legal advice to senior management on contracts, regulatory issues and corporate governance.
• Maintain and update internal policies to reflect the highest ethical and professional standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and Barrister-at-Law (B.L); called to the Nigerian Bar.
• Post‑graduate qualification or certification in Compliance, Risk Management or Corporate Governance (advantage).
• 3‑5 years progressive experience in legal, regulatory and compliance roles, preferably in technology, infrastructure or consulting.
• Demonstrated experience in contract management, regulatory liaison and corporate governance.
• Advanced legal drafting, documentation and statutory interpretation skills.
