About the role

CredPal is seeking a Lead, Legal & Recovery to own and execute its legal recovery strategy across delinquent and high‑risk accounts. The role is hands‑on, commercially driven and responsible for moving cases from demand through negotiation, litigation and enforcement to achieve measurable cash recoveries.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute aggressive recovery strategies for various delinquency buckets, high‑value exposures and written‑off accounts.
• Determine appropriate legal escalation routes and manage demand notices, settlement negotiations, litigation and enforcement actions.
• Segment portfolios by exposure, delinquency stage and recovery probability to select optimal channels.
• Oversee external law firms, recovery agencies and field agents, holding them to defined targets and timelines.
• Lead negotiations with delinquent customers, structure repayment plans and recommend settlements.
• Collaborate with Collections, Credit, Risk, Finance, Data and Operations to ensure seamless escalation.

Required profile

• LL.B and B.L with admission to the Nigerian Bar.
• 5–8 years post‑call experience in debt recovery, commercial litigation, banking or fintech.
• Proven track record of recovering significant delinquent or difficult debt portfolios.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian lending, contract, insolvency and consumer‑protection law.
• Experience managing external counsel, recovery agencies and field recovery teams.
• Commercial mindset with ability to balance recovery probability, cost and business outcomes.
