Lead Instrumentation Assurance Consultant

About the role

Independent Project Monitoring Company FZE (IPMC) seeks a senior professional to lead the instrumentation and control systems assurance function on a landmark industrial oil & gas plant development in Nigeria. The role combines technical verification, certification, and team leadership responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, organise and supervise a multidisciplinary instrumentation assurance team, allocating engineers across contractor packages and project areas.
• Mentor and provide technical direction to associates and local site engineers, reviewing inspection findings and reports before issue.
• Review contractor instrumentation and control engineering deliverables for compliance with designs, specifications and applicable codes.
• Verify installations of field instruments, PLC/DCS/SCADA systems, control valves, analyzers, cabling and related infrastructure against approved drawings and As‑Built records.
• Conduct site inspections and technical audits, certify critical works such as SIS/ESD validation, control loop commissioning and functional safety testing.
• Identify technical risks, non‑conformities and quality concerns, driving corrective actions and preparing assurance reports for the employer.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electrical & Instrumentation, Control Systems or related discipline; Master’s degree is an advantage.
• Minimum 12 years of post‑qualification experience on industrial, oil & gas or major infrastructure projects, with proven lead or supervisory experience.
• Professional registration (COREN, PE, CEng or equivalent) and experience in consulting, owner’s engineering, EPC/EPCM, third‑party inspection or technical audit.
• Willingness to relocate to Nigeria for the assignment and hold a valid international passport.
