Lead Electrical Assurance Consultant

About the role

Independent Project Monitoring Company (IPMC) is seeking a senior Lead Electrical Assurance Consultant to head the electrical assurance function for a landmark industrial oil & gas plant in Nigeria. Reporting to the Project Director, you will work alongside lead civil, mechanical and cost engineers as part of the senior project leadership team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, organise and supervise the electrical assurance team, allocating engineers to contractor packages and project areas.
• Mentor and provide technical direction to Electrical Assurance Associates and local site engineers, reviewing and quality‑controlling their inspection findings and reports.
• Coordinate daily activities with lead civil, mechanical and cost engineers and report progress, risks and resourcing needs to the Project Director.
• Represent IPMC in meetings with the employer’s site management, escalating and resolving conflicts or ambiguities.
• Review contractor electrical engineering deliverables for compliance with designs, specifications and codes.
• Verify installations – substations, transformers, switchgear, power distribution, MCCs, cables, lighting, earthing and lightning protection – against approved drawings and As‑Built records.
• Conduct site inspections and technical audits, certify critical works such as HV/MV switchgear commissioning, protection & control systems, and cable termination testing.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 years (144 months) of relevant experience in electrical engineering and assurance.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary assurance teams on large‑scale industrial or oil & gas projects.
• Strong knowledge of applicable codes, standards and certification procedures.
