Lead Accountant

About the role

The Lead Accountant will oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate financial statements and management reports for Generation Capital Limited. This senior position involves supervising ledger activities, loan accounting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and present financial statements and management reports.
• Supervise general ledger activities, ensuring proper recording and reconciliation of transactions.
• Lead loan accounting processes, including disbursements, repayments, interest recognition, and portfolio tracking.
• Conduct periodic financial audits and enforce internal controls and company policies.
• Prepare and submit statutory and regulatory reports such as VAT and SCUML.
• Monitor and reconcile income, customer repayments, and accounts for accuracy.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses to support financial planning.
• Provide guidance, supervision, and mentoring to junior accounting staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA or equivalent) is an advantage.
• 4–6 years of accounting experience, preferably in financial services.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with loan accounting and portfolio management.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

What we offer

• Salary: NGN 250,000 – 350,000 per month (negotiable).
