Inventory Officer

About the role

The Inventory Officer will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records across the business, ensuring optimal stock levels and preventing losses. You will work closely with Procurement, Finance, Operations and other teams to support efficient inventory management.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain records of all inventory movements, including receipt, issue, transfer, return and disposal.
• Monitor stock levels to avoid over‑stocking, expiry, damage and stock‑outs.
• Conduct regular physical counts, cycle counts and periodic audits, investigating discrepancies promptly.
• Reconcile physical stock with system records and analyse variances, losses and unexplained movements.
• Document and authorise all inter‑location stock transfers.
• Develop and enforce inventory control procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Track fast‑moving, slow‑moving, obsolete, damaged and near‑expiry items and report recommendations.
• Collaborate with Procurement, Finance and Operations to ensure accurate purchasing, receiving, storage and issuance.
• Prepare timely inventory reports covering position, valuation, movement, ageing and cost analysis.
• Identify opportunities to reduce wastage, losses and holding costs.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of proven experience in inventory management, stock control or warehouse operations.
• Strong understanding of inventory control principles, stock reconciliation and documentation.
• Excellent analytical, numerical and attention‑to‑detail abilities.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of inventory accuracy.
• High level of integrity, accountability and effective communication skills.
