Human Resources Manager

About the role

The Human Resources Manager leads the development and execution of the organisation's HR strategy so that people management supports business objectives, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance and sustainable growth. The role covers the full HR function, including workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, compensation and benefits, employee relations, learning and development, HR operations and organisational development. It calls for a commercially minded HR professional who can turn business needs into effective people strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement HR strategies, policies and procedures; partner with senior management on workforce planning, staffing levels and manpower budgets, and give data-driven advice on productivity, costs and retention.
• Lead end-to-end recruitment, from requisition and job analysis to sourcing, screening, interviews, offers and onboarding, and set recruitment KPIs such as time-to-fill and cost-per-hire.
• Run a performance management system, KPIs and scorecards, and advise on promotions, confirmations, disciplinary action and separations.
• Maintain compensation structures, salary grades and benefits, process monthly payroll accurately, and ensure pension, PAYE and other statutory obligations are met.
• Handle employee relations, grievances, disciplinary cases and investigations fairly and confidentially, and manage exits and handovers.
• Run training needs assessments, an annual learning and development plan and leadership development programmes.
• Keep employee records, leave, attendance and personnel files up to date, maintain HR policies and the employee handbook, and use HR technology for better data accuracy and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with Nigerian employment law, pension and tax requirements, and liaise with regulators and external advisers.
• Support organisational development, succession planning, engagement initiatives and change management.
