HR Consultant

About the role

The HR Consultant will lead end‑to‑end consulting engagements for a diverse portfolio of clients, delivering audits, policy design, and talent management solutions. Reporting to senior management, the role combines advisory expertise with project delivery and team mentorship.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute HR consulting projects, including audits, organizational reviews, and workforce assessments.
• Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, employee handbooks, job descriptions, competency models and career pathways.
• Design performance management frameworks, KPIs, appraisal processes and compensation structures, including salary benchmarking.
• Provide expert advice on employee relations, disciplinary actions and compliance with Nigerian labour law.
• Lead and mentor a team of HR Associates, assign work, review deliverables and conduct performance evaluations.
• Identify business development opportunities, prepare proposals, support client pitches and contribute to thought‑leadership content.
• Create project plans, monitor scope, schedule and budget, and produce client‑facing reports and presentations.
• Design and deliver training programmes, workshops and executive coaching as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Industrial Relations or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
• 6–8 years progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in HR consulting or advisory roles.
• Proven track record of leading HR projects and managing multidisciplinary teams.
• Professional HR certifications such as CIPM, SHRM‑CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR, CIPD are preferred.
• Experience across multiple industries and strong client‑facing skills.
