Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager

About the role

The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager will lead the implementation of HSE policies and programmes for Golden Penny Foods’ flour operations. The role focuses on continuous improvement of safety performance, environmental protection and compliance with local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and communicate an HSE management system aligned with ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015.
• Provide guidance on ISO standards, develop programmes to achieve occupational health and safety objectives, and ensure timely submission of HSE reports.
• Review safety rules, maintain clear vehicle and pedestrian walkways, and establish unobstructed muster and fire assembly points.
• Identify training needs, deliver regular HSE training, prepare periodic reports and conduct emergency drills.
• Develop and execute strategies to prevent workplace injuries, minimise environmental incidents and meet annual HSE performance targets.

Required profile

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• B.Sc./HND in Engineering, Environmental Sciences or related field.
• NEBOSH Certificate and membership of the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON).
• Minimum of five years’ relevant experience in FMCG or flour milling environments.

Required skills

• Implementation of ISO 14001:2015 environmental management systems.
• Risk management strategies for occupational health and safety.
• Knowledge of national health, safety and environmental legislation.
