Head of Programmes

About the role

The Head of Programmes leads the conceptualization, planning and execution of all consulting programmes and initiatives, ensuring they meet client or donor expectations on timelines, budget and results. The role also covers financial oversight, stakeholder relations, business development, team leadership and communications.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, planning and delivery of consulting programmes, monitoring progress, managing risks and taking corrective action.
• Ensure efficient use of client and donor resources through compliance, financial tracking and reporting, and approval of expenditures, budget adjustments and cost changes.
• Act as adviser and main contact for clients and stakeholders, and identify and negotiate new business opportunities and partnerships.
• Recruit, coach and mentor staff, manage team dynamics and well-being, and run performance assessments.
• Represent the organization on platforms, supervise communication strategies and approved materials so they follow brand guidelines.

Required profile

• Master's degree in food technology, nutrition, agriculture, international development or a related field.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in consulting, philanthropy and/or donor-funded international development, including a minimum of 2 years at senior management level.
• Proven track record managing end-to-end donor or international development projects in the food, agriculture or development sectors.
• Experience supervising a programme team and fostering a learning environment.

Required skills

• Project management and use of technology to manage processes.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio), web conferencing applications and information and budget management systems.
• Excellent communication, presentation and public speaking skills.
