Head of Programmes

About the role

A leading Lagos-based NGO specialising in health education is hiring a Head of Programmes through its recruiter, eRecruiter. The role is a strategic leadership position overseeing the design, implementation and evaluation of all social interventions across the foundation's three focus areas: health, education and shelter. It works closely with the Executive Director and oversees Program Managers and Coordinators.

Key responsibilities

• Translate complex social needs into strategic program models and objectives, and guide cross-functional teams toward high-level KPIs through feedback, coaching and mentoring.
• Design and implement projects in education, health and shelter, applying project management to complex humanitarian initiatives and ensuring quality assurance and adherence to standards.
• Set baseline KPIs and reporting structures, and establish MEAL frameworks to track social impact and programme data, including monthly reports.
• Manage budgets for large-scale interventions, monitor expenditures against the annual budget, and mitigate financial risks.
• Conduct risk assessments for humanitarian activities, enforce safeguarding protocols, and ensure compliance with local and international laws.
• Oversee recruitment and onboarding, and build systems and procedures for efficient programme operations.
• Collaborate with communications, finance and operations, and with external consultants and partners.

Required profile

• Minimum of 10 years' experience in project management or a related field.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and in high-performance environments.
