Head of Operations
eRecruiter · Lagos
Job description
About the role
eRecruiter is hiring a Head of Operations in Lagos to own the end-to-end order-to-delivery process, warehouse and stock control, logistics and fleet, and the company's move into local production. The role leads the operations organisation, sets KPIs and drives cost and working-capital efficiency.
Key responsibilities
- Own the Order-to-Delivery process, from validated sales order and finance clearance through stock allocation, picking, loading, transport, delivery, Proof of Delivery and ERP closure, with a daily delivery control tower and named owners for open orders.
- Coordinate Sales, Finance, Warehouse and Transport, and set service standards and escalation rules for urgent orders, shortages, failed deliveries and complaints.
- Drive OTIF, order lead time, failed-delivery rate and POD closure as core KPIs.
- Own inbound and outbound warehouse processes, implement FIFO/FEFO, cycle counts, audits and reconciliations, and reduce sleeping stock, damages and shrinkage.
- Apply feed-specific storage discipline: moisture and pest control, weevil and mycotoxin prevention, correct stacking, segregation and full batch/lot traceability.
- Maintain audit-ready GRNs, waybills, stock ledgers and ERP records, and enforce hygiene, safety, security and fire-safety standards.
- Plan and control inland movement of goods, build a network of local carriers and owner-drivers, design cost-efficient routing and load consolidation, and own fleet performance, maintenance, fuel control and driver scheduling.
- Lead the transition to local production: project execution, commissioning readiness, SOPs, staffing, shift organisation, plant layout, machinery implementation and acceptance, and day-to-day production execution.
- Build a production management system around 5S / Lean / Kaizen, preventive maintenance, daily performance boards, root-cause analysis and CAPA, and ensure production follows approved formulations and QA/QC release procedures.
- Manage toll/contract millers and manufacturing partners, and develop operational staff as execution leaders.
- Design the annual operations plan, run weekly and monthly KPI dashboards, lead cost optimisation and treat inventory as cash.
- Lead the operations team, set objectives, coach and evaluate performance, and create SOPs, role ownership and escalation protocols.
- Vet, onboard and evaluate transporters, warehouses and suppliers, negotiate SLAs, maintain vendor scorecards and represent the company with industry associations.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as NAFDAC, SON, NAQS, NESREA, Customs and FRSC, and work toward GMP, HACCP-aligned practice and, where required, ISO 22000 / GMP+ / FAMI-QS.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Agribusiness, Food Science/Technology, Industrial/Production Engineering or a related field.
- A Master's degree or relevant professional certification (CIPS, CILT, APICS/CPIM, Lean Six Sigma).
