Head of Finance and Accounts – Downstream Oil & Gas

About the role

The client, a growing downstream oil and gas business in Nigeria, is seeking a senior finance leader to oversee financial management, reporting, controls and commercial oversight across its nationwide retail and logistics operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction for finance and accounting across all retail service stations and operational locations.
• Ensure daily closure, reconciliation and accurate reporting of high‑volume transactions, fuel sales, inventory and cash collections.
• Maintain strong financial controls, monitor profitability of each station and oversee haulage and transportation finance.
• Prepare management accounts, cash‑flow forecasts, budgets and financial dashboards for senior leadership.
• Lead the finance team, coordinate with auditors, tax consultants and regulatory bodies, and ensure compliance with Nigerian accounting and tax regulations.

Required profile

• 8‑12+ years progressive finance and accounting experience, with senior management exposure.
• Extensive background in downstream oil & gas, specifically petroleum retail/service station operations.
• Proven ability to manage finance across multiple retail outlets and high‑volume daily reconciliations.
• Strong commercial acumen to support pricing, procurement, inventory and expansion decisions.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Sage accounting software for reporting, reconciliation and financial management.

What we offer

• Salary range N800,000 – N1,000,000 plus attractive benefits, commensurate with experience.
