Head, Energy Sourcing & Regulatory Relations

About the role

Dangote Cement Plc is looking for a Head of Energy Sourcing and Regulatory Relations to provide strategic leadership for energy sourcing, with primary responsibility for coal procurement, supplier and vendor management and regulatory stakeholder engagement. The role ensures a reliable, cost-effective and quality-compliant supply of coal to support uninterrupted cement production, while driving alternative energy and fuel-sourcing opportunities. It also leads commercial negotiations, builds strategic supplier partnerships, manages supply-chain risks and maintains relationships with government institutions and regulatory agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the energy sourcing strategy, focused on coal procurement, and select, evaluate and negotiate with coal suppliers on price, quality, payment terms and delivery schedules.
• Monitor coal market trends and collaborate with Production, Logistics, Finance, Quality Assurance and Plant Management to forecast demand and optimise procurement and inventory.
• Explore alternative fuels and benchmark sourcing costs against market indicators.
• Build a network of coal suppliers, energy providers, logistics partners and other vendors; run due diligence, set performance standards and manage contracts, disputes and claims.
• Reduce supplier concentration and work with Legal, Finance, Risk Management and Compliance on contractual, financial and operational risks.
• Engage government ministries, regulators and public-sector stakeholders on coal sourcing, mining, permits, licences, duties and tariffs; monitor regulatory developments and coordinate permits and approvals.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, Logistics or a related field; a postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
• CIPS or similar procurement certification is desirable.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in strategic sourcing, energy supply, commercial operations or supply-chain management, including significant leadership experience.
• Experience in coal procurement, mining, energy, cement manufacturing or other heavy industries is strongly preferred.
• Proven experience in supplier management, complex commercial negotiations, contract management and cost optimisation, and in engaging government institutions and regulators.
