Graduate Trainee - Accounting

About the role

Akantt is looking for a Graduate Trainee in Accounting in Abuja. The role gives practical experience across accounting, training and technology operations, supporting real client accounting, Akkant Academy training programmes and the testing of Rulla, an AI-powered bookkeeping and compliance tool. It is an entry-level opportunity for graduates with 0-2 years of experience, including those with relevant internship, SIWES or NYSC experience.

Key responsibilities

• Record and classify client financial transactions accurately using accounting software and spreadsheets.
• Assist with bank and account reconciliations and escalate discrepancies for review.
• Support the preparation of management account schedules, month-end activities, payroll and tax documentation.
• Maintain supporting financial documents from clients and respond to routine client requests professionally.
• Submit accounting work for review and incorporate feedback to improve accuracy and quality.
• Support Akkant Academy learners: help with onboarding, prepare training materials, practice datasets and case exercises, coordinate logistics, track attendance and assignments, and provide basic support during software practice sessions.
• Test Rulla features, report bugs and usability issues, and support users with onboarding and routine questions.
• Complete assigned accounting, software and professional development training, keep accurate records and suggest process improvements.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of client, learner, financial and company information.

Required profile

• Graduate with 0-2 years of experience.
• Relevant internship, SIWES or NYSC experience is welcome.
• Ability to learn through hands-on work under supervision and to develop practical skills in bookkeeping, financial administration, client service, accounting software and technology.
