Geologist – Field & Laboratory Specialist

About the role

Kenex Konsults International is looking for a Geologist to lead geological surveys, field investigations and data analysis for projects in Port Harcourt and the wider Rivers State region. The role combines on‑site field work with technical reporting to support construction, mining, petroleum and environmental projects.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct geological surveys, field investigations and site assessments, collecting rock, soil, sediment and mineral samples.
• Prepare geological maps, cross‑sections, models and technical documentation.
• Interpret geological, geophysical and geochemical data to inform project objectives.
• Log boreholes, cores and excavation sites, and monitor drilling and sampling activities.
• Use GIS, GPS, AutoCAD and geological modelling software for mapping and analysis.
• Assess geological risks and provide recommendations for construction, drilling or resource development.
• Produce detailed reports, field notes, presentations and ensure proper documentation of data and samples.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or HND in Geology, Applied Geology, Engineering Geology or a related field.
• At least two years of relevant field experience in exploration, mining, construction, environmental consulting or oil & gas.
• Professional membership of the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) or similar body is an advantage.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and work in varying field conditions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GIS and mapping tools.
• Experience using AutoCAD and geological modelling software.
• Competence with GPS and other field‑based technical equipment.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities for interpreting geological data.
