Full-Stack Software & Edge AI Developer

About the role

Phemotron is looking for an entry-level Full-Stack Software & Edge AI Developer in Lagos to build and support the software infrastructure behind its engineering projects, which integrate artificial intelligence into aviation and space technologies. The work covers web applications, cloud back-end systems and AI models for hardware with limited resources, including the Concurrent Design Chest platform. The role is full time.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain responsive web applications for mobile and low-bandwidth environments, and help build real-time collaboration tools, dashboards and data visualizations.
• Support secure APIs, services and databases, and implement authentication, role-based access controls and data protection.
• Integrate third-party services and engineering tools, and manage file storage for design data.
• Create, train and evaluate machine learning models for satellite and ground-station operations, and optimize them for constrained hardware using quantization and pruning.
• Deploy and test models on embedded systems such as ARM boards or AI accelerators, and work with electronics engineers on hardware-software interfaces.
• Build telemetry data tools, support ground-station software, test automation and data pipelines, and set up CI/CD pipelines, version control and automated testing.
• Maintain hosting, backups, monitoring and incident response, and document code, architecture and runbooks.
• Collaborate with colleagues in US and Japan entities and comply with export control regulations.

Required profile

• Educational background or foundational experience in web apps, cloud back-ends or AI models.
• Basic experience with machine learning model development, training and evaluation.
• Experience deploying or benchmarking models on ARM boards, edge AI accelerators or FPGAs.
• Knowledge of telemetry processing, ground-station software and test automation pipelines.
• Background in DevOps, secure coding and the Nigeria Data Protection Act.
• Ability to work with international teams and understand export control rules.
