Fleet Officer

About the role

A leading multinational mechanical and electrical contracting company, recruited through eRecruiter, is looking for an experienced Fleet Officer in Lagos. The role covers monitoring, maintenance, compliance and scheduling of the company's vehicles.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and report on fleet usage, fuel consumption, mileage and overall performance.
• Oversee timely servicing, maintenance and repair of all company vehicles.
• Keep vehicle documentation (registration, insurance, roadworthiness, licensing) up to date.
• Coordinate vehicle scheduling, dispatch and optimal use of resources.
• Liaise with workshops and vendors for quality servicing and spare parts procurement.
• Enforce fleet policies, safety standards and compliance with transport regulations.
• Manage incident reporting, driver discipline and driver-related HR documentation.
• Track fleet activity via GPS and ensure accurate driver vehicle inspection reports.
• Conduct monthly and quarterly physical inspections and submit detailed reports, and provide weekly vehicle performance reports.
• Facilitate timely processing of vendor payments and cash retirements, and ensure accurate fleet and driver records.
• Support driver assignments, manage operational contingencies and escalate non-compliance issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher national diploma in Logistics, Transport Management, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in fleet or transport management (2-5 years preferred).
• Good understanding of vehicle maintenance and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations.
