Financial Controller – Lagos Free Zone

About the role

The Financial Controller will lead the finance function for Guala Closures' Lagos Free Zone plant, ensuring robust financial planning, reporting, and compliance. This senior position partners closely with senior leadership to drive profitability and support the company’s transformation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and manage the annual budgeting process, aligning budgets with business objectives and monitoring cost allocations.
• Update forecasts regularly and work with management to adjust for market, production cost, and efficiency changes.
• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with Nigerian regulations, IFRS, and group policies.
• Lead variance analysis, identify performance drivers, and present actionable insights to senior management.
• Implement and monitor internal controls, ensure compliance with tax and statutory requirements, and coordinate internal and external audits.
• Drive cost‑management initiatives, analyze manufacturing cost structures, and propose cost‑saving strategies.
• Support change‑management projects by providing financial data and analysis to guide decision‑making.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals, fostering high performance and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• More than 15 years of progressive finance experience, preferably in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations, statutory reporting, IFRS, and corporate governance.
• Proven leadership skills with experience managing and developing finance teams.
• Excellent analytical abilities and a track record of delivering strategic financial insights to senior leadership.
