Engineering Manager - EMEA

About the role

Human Made, maker of Altis DXP, is hiring an Engineering Manager for the EMEA region. This is a fully remote, async-first position open to candidates based in Europe, the Middle East and Africa with CET and GMT time coverage. The role balances technical oversight and people management with strategic team leadership, ensuring best practices around software development and the wellbeing and development of the engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, coach and mentor your reports, including completing performance reviews and 1:1s and turning feedback into constructive input
• Lead a cross-functional squad, set clear goals, run retrospectives and check-ins, and foster accountability
• Represent the team in meta-level discussions on structure, wellbeing and professional development
• Collaborate with other engineering managers and discipline leads, and take part in client project delivery
• Identify gaps in engineering knowledge and steer training, and keep up to date with WordPress best practice and emerging technologies

Required profile

• Proven experience leading a team of engineers, ideally in an agency environment
• Experience in a remote working environment
• Excellent communication, team-building and organisational skills
• Fluent written and spoken English (CEFR C1 or equivalent)

Required skills

• Broad understanding of the technologies used by Human Made, such as WordPress, React, APIs and software architecture
• Ability to assess individuals' areas for improvement and turn feedback into clear development plans
