Deputy Country Director Programs – Abuja

About the role

Solidarités International is seeking a Deputy Country Director for Programs to join its team in Abuja, Nigeria. The role supports the Country Director in leading the design, implementation and monitoring of humanitarian programmes, with a focus on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and related health interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Country Director in strategic planning, budgeting and resource allocation for programme activities.
• Oversee the implementation of WASH and health projects, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and organisational standards.
• Coordinate with national and international partners, government authorities and local communities to enhance programme impact.
• Monitor programme performance, prepare reports and contribute to learning and adaptation processes.
• Support staff recruitment, capacity building and performance management within the programme team.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in public health, international development, environmental sciences or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in managing large‑scale humanitarian programmes, preferably in WASH or health sectors.
• Demonstrated experience working in conflict‑affected or disaster‑prone contexts.
• Strong leadership, analytical and communication skills.
