Chief Security Officer

About the role

The Chief Security Officer will lead the development and execution of security strategy for a leading electricity distribution company in Nigeria. This senior role is responsible for protecting people, assets, and information while reducing energy theft and ensuring business continuity.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and manage the company’s security strategy, policies, procedures and security manual.
• Conduct regular security audits, investigations of theft/vandalism, and follow‑up on corrective actions.
• Oversee executive security detail and provide security support for internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage access control, visitor processing, emergency response procedures and metal‑detector screening.
• Coordinate security patrols, guard training, and performance monitoring across head office and district locations.
• Develop service level agreements with security service providers and collaborate with legal counsel.
• Maintain a security MIS database, prepare budgets and produce incident reports within agreed turnaround times.

Required profile

• HND/BSc in a related discipline; MBA or Master’s degree is an advantage.
• Relevant professional security certification.
• Minimum 14 years of experience in armed forces or police, at least at the rank of Captain or equivalent, with 5 years in a corporate senior‑management security role.
• Proven ability to lead security operations, develop policies and ensure compliance.
