Cashier

About the role

A full-time cashier position based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, within the hospitality and hotel sector. The role handles customer payments, keeps accurate cash and sales records and reconciles them at the end of each shift.

Key responsibilities

• Receive cash, POS, bank transfers and other approved forms of payment from customers and process transactions accurately, issuing receipts.
• Maintain accurate records of daily sales and payments received.
• Reconcile cash, POS transactions and other payment records at the end of each shift.
• Report cash shortages, overages, discrepancies or suspicious transactions to the supervisor.
• Keep the cash register and payment terminals properly maintained.
• Provide courteous, professional service, handle payment inquiries and resolve minor transaction issues.
• Prepare daily cash reports and submit collections to the designated officer.
• Keep financial information confidential and follow company cash-handling procedures.
• Keep the cashier's workstation clean, organised and secure.

Required profile

• Minimum of OND or equivalent in Accounting, Business Administration or a related field (an advantage).
• Previous experience as a cashier or in a similar role (an advantage).
• Ability to work under pressure and handle transactions responsibly.
• Only candidates residing in Port Harcourt will be considered.

Required skills

• Familiarity with POS terminals and cash register operations.
• Basic numerical, record-keeping and computer skills.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, communication and customer service skills.
