BESS Service Engineer

About the role

A qualified and experienced BESS Service Engineer is sought to provide technical support, commissioning assistance, troubleshooting, maintenance and after-sales service for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), solar inverters and associated power conversion equipment. The engineer supports customers and business partners across the project lifecycle, from pre-installation assessment and commissioning to operational monitoring, fault resolution and technical training. The role involves travel within Nigeria and other assigned regions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pre-installation surveys, site assessments, installation inspections and commissioning for BESS and inverter systems.
• Diagnose and resolve issues with battery energy storage systems, battery management systems (BMS), power conversion systems (PCS), solar inverters and associated electrical equipment.
• Provide on-site support for complex faults and off-site support by phone, email and other channels.
• Support integration of BESS with solar PV systems, grid supplies, generators and energy management systems.
• Monitor equipment performance, analyse alarms and faults, and prepare post-commissioning performance reports.
• Carry out periodic inspections and maintenance assessments to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
• Travel within Nigeria and other African markets for projects, commissioning, training and critical service cases.

Required profile

• B.Eng., B.Tech., HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications or a related field.
• Good knowledge of BESS, battery technologies, BMS, PCS and solar inverters; understanding of solar PV, power electronics, electrical protection and power distribution.
• Practical experience in BESS installation, commissioning, troubleshooting or after-sales support is an advantage; experience with string inverters, hybrid inverters and lithium-ion systems is highly desirable.
• Ability to read single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, technical manuals and configuration documents.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills in English, including technical presentations and training.
• Willingness and ability to travel within Nigeria and other assigned regions.
