Banksman – Port Operations Support

About the role

Join APM Terminals, a Maersk company, as a Banksman supporting vessel turnaround and terminal operations in Nigeria. You will ensure accurate recording of vessel and cargo information while maintaining safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor crane and vessel performance, providing operational updates on vessel progress.
• Support vessel turnaround activities to minimise delays and coordinate related documentation.
• Maintain electronic and physical filing systems for operational records.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions, supporting safe lifting practices and load‑limit compliance.

Required profile

• Continuous‑improvement mindset with curiosity about work processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities, able to work accurately under pressure.
• Good knowledge of shipping, terminal and port operations, including maritime documentation.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with terminal operating systems.
• Effective communication in English and Pidgin English.
