Banking & Finance Partner – Lagos, Nigeria

About the role

Our client, a leading Nigerian "Silver Circle" law firm, is seeking a high‑calibre Banking & Finance Partner to join its Lagos headquarters. The successful candidate will lead complex financing transactions and provide strategic regulatory counsel to domestic and international financial institutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage multi‑million‑dollar project finance, syndicated lending, asset finance and debt restructuring deals.
• Provide high‑level regulatory advice within the Nigerian financial services framework.
• Drive business development initiatives to expand the firm’s presence across West Africa.
• Mentor and develop a team of Associates and Senior Associates.

Required profile

• 12+ years of post‑call experience, preferably in a top‑tier Nigerian or international law firm.
• Proven track record as lead counsel on large financing transactions.
• Strong professional reputation with the ability to generate and convert leads.
• LL.B and BL required; LL.M from a leading international university highly preferred.

Required skills

• Expertise in banking and finance law, including project finance and syndicated lending.
• In‑depth knowledge of Nigerian financial regulatory environment.
• Business development and client relationship management.
