Backend Software Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer to design and develop robust APIs and services for our GOCLIMS tenant portal and SteadGrid NOC system. The role involves real-time telemetry processing, billing engine development, and close collaboration with frontend and firmware teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build RESTful APIs and backend services for GOCLIMS and SteadGrid.
• Integrate with the HASIP MQTT broker (EMQX) to consume and process telemetry from servers and IoT devices.
• Develop and maintain the FLOPSFlex compute exchange backend, including billing, session management, and settlement logic.
• Implement authentication, authorisation, and role-based access control across platform services.
• Create data pipelines to aggregate, store, and serve telemetry from a 48-node server chassis to dashboards and billing systems.
• Write clean, well-documented code with mandatory unit and integration tests.
• Collaborate closely with frontend engineers and external firmware specialists on API contracts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum three years of production-level backend development experience.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to code quality.

Required skills

• Python (primary language).
• One or more of Node.js, Go, Java.
• Design and consumption of RESTful APIs and WebSocket connections.
• Experience with MQTT (EMQX or Mosquitto), RabbitMQ or Kafka.
• Relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, and time-series data storage.
• Docker and containerised deployment workflows.
