Back-End Developer

About the role

Kenex Konsults International is hiring a Back-End Developer based in Lagos, Marina. The role covers server-side application development, API design, database work and deployment, working closely with front-end developers and designers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and optimise server-side applications and systems
• Write clean, efficient and scalable code in Python, PHP, Java, Node.js or similar
• Design, develop and maintain APIs for front-end apps and third-party integrations
• Create, manage and optimise databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
• Implement authentication, authorisation and data protection
• Troubleshoot, debug and fix server-side issues and application errors
• Optimise performance, scalability and reliability
• Integrate third-party services, payment gateways and external APIs
• Test applications for functionality, security and reliability
• Manage code repositories and version control with Git (GitHub or GitLab)
• Deploy, monitor and maintain applications on servers or cloud platforms
• Document technical processes, architecture and updates

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree, HND or relevant certification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field
• Proven experience as a Back-End Developer or in a similar software development role
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work collaboratively, manage several tasks and meet deadlines
• A portfolio of completed projects or practical experience is an added advantage

Required skills

• At least one back-end language such as Python, PHP, Java or JavaScript with Node.js
• Database design, management and optimisation
• RESTful API development and integration
• Authentication, authorisation, cybersecurity and data protection awareness
• Familiarity with Git, testing and debugging tools
• Server management, deployment and cloud platforms are an advantage
