Authorizations Coordinator

About the role

The Authorizations Coordinator manages the end‑to‑end prior authorization and referral process for patient services. Working remotely, you will ensure that requests are accurately initiated, tracked, and completed in line with payer requirements and medical policies.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, review, and process prior authorization and referral requests promptly.
• Initiate, track, and follow up on authorization requests from submission to final determination.
• Verify patient demographics, insurance eligibility, benefits, and referral requirements.
• Enter authorizations and referrals into EMR and payer portals such as Availity.
• Communicate with provider offices, insurance representatives, and internal teams to gather documentation and resolve issues.
• Maintain accurate logs of open cases, pending documents, and outcomes.
• Monitor authorization status and proactively follow up to avoid delays in patient care.

• Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to manage a high‑volume workload in a remote setting.

Required skills

• Experience with EMR systems.
• Familiarity with payer portals and authorization platforms (e.g., Availity).
• Knowledge of CPT coding and ICD‑10 diagnosis codes.
