Assistant Technical Officer – Nutrition (CMAM)

About the role

The Assistant Technical Officer – Nutrition (CMAM) will support the treatment of severe acute malnutrition (SAM) among children under five in Ngala, Borno state, Nigeria. Reporting to the Technical Officer, Health and Nutrition, the role involves community outreach, therapeutic feeding, and coordination with stabilization centres.

Key responsibilities

• Lead community outreach and active case finding for malnutrition in children under‑5, including MUAC screening.
• Provide Outpatient Therapeutic Programme (OTP) services in target communities and IDP camps.
• Conduct defaulter tracing, follow‑up visits and deliver key nutrition messages at OTP sites.
• Identify complications, non‑responders and refer children to the Stabilization Centre according to protocol.
• Develop and update the CMAM workplan and produce trend reports on admissions and mortality.
• Support Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) activities, including assessments, focus group discussions and timely reporting.
• Ensure accurate documentation of services and monitor OTP performance indicators.
• Assist in the management of SAM children with complications at the Stabilization Centre, ensuring correct clinical diagnosis and treatment per guidelines.
