Assistant Accountant (Depot)

About the role

The Assistant Accountant (Depot) will support the depot accountant in managing all financial and accounting activities for the assigned depot. You will ensure accurate reporting, effective inventory control, and compliance with tax regulations while providing reliable financial information to management.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records for all depot transactions in line with company policies.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly financial reports for management review.
• Reconcile bank accounts, customer accounts and ledger balances promptly.
• Monitor and reconcile inventory movements, accounting for stock receipts, transfers and sales.
• Verify and post sales transactions, customer payments and receipts.
• Track outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue balances with the sales team.
• Ensure compliance with VAT, Withholding Tax and e‑invoicing requirements.
• Prepare schedules for audit, statutory reporting and management accounts.
• Maintain internal controls over cash, inventory and financial transactions.
• Support annual audits and respond to audit queries.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related discipline.
• 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in pharmaceutical, FMCG or manufacturing.
• Experience in depot accounting, inventory management and financial reporting is highly desirable.
• Must reside in Kano and be aged between 30 and 40 years.
• High level of integrity, accountability and professionalism.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Tally ERP or Sage.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations and statutory compliance.
