Accounts Director

About the role

The Accounts Director will provide strategic leadership for the finance function of a leading West African construction firm. This senior position oversees the entire financial management framework, ensuring compliance, sustainability and profitability across multiple African and international locations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the company’s financial strategy aligned with corporate objectives, overseeing budgeting, forecasting and long‑term planning.
• Provide quarterly financial insights to the Board and Executive Management for decision‑making.
• Ensure compliance with international accounting standards, tax laws and statutory regulations in all group locations.
• Lead external audits, internal controls and regulatory reviews to safeguard assets and maintain transparency.
• Drive efficiency in receivables collection, cash‑flow management and ledger reconciliation.
• Build and maintain relationships with banks, auditors, regulators and investors, negotiating financing arrangements and credit facilities.

Required profile

• MBA or MSc in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Professional certifications such as ICAN, ACCA or CFA (preferred).
• Extensive experience in corporate finance, investment analysis, risk management and multi‑country financial operations.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, tax legislation and corporate governance.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Expert use of SAP S/4Hana and other ERP systems.
• Ability to manage complex financial structures and multi‑departmental operations.
