Accountant

About the role

Ellasot Consulting is hiring a full-time Accountant based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The role covers day-to-day bookkeeping, financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing and support for audits and tax compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including income, expenses, invoices and payments.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports and other accounting reports.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments.
• Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies in financial records.
• Monitor cash flow, track expenditures and support budget preparation and financial planning.
• Process payroll and maintain accurate payroll records where applicable.
• Ensure proper documentation and filing of receipts, invoices, payment vouchers and other financial transactions.
• Assist with tax calculations, statutory deductions, tax filings and other regulatory compliance requirements.
• Support internal and external audits by providing relevant financial records and documentation.
• Identify financial discrepancies, errors or irregularities and recommend corrective actions.

Required profile

• HND or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Integrity and financial confidentiality; 2-3 years of relevant accounting experience preferred.
• Professional accounting qualification or membership progress with ICAN, ACCA or an equivalent body is an advantage.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and tax compliance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills, with high accuracy and attention to detail.
• Good communication, organisational and time-management skills.
