Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an Accountant to manage the financial operations of our farm. The role involves maintaining accurate bookkeeping, preparing reports, and supporting budgeting for farm activities. The successful candidate will work closely with the farm manager and security head to ensure cost control.

Key responsibilities

• Record and maintain accurate bookkeeping of all farm financial transactions (inflows and outflows).
• Monitor daily expenses, purchases, and sales to ensure accountability.
• Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports for management review.
• Reconcile bank statements, petty cash, and other financial accounts.
• Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial planning for farm operations.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and relevant regulations.
• Support procurement and inventory management with financial record-keeping.
• Collaborate with the farm manager and head of farm security to monitor costs related to production and farm assets.

Required profile

• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial management, preferably in an agricultural or SME setting.
• OND in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
• Must be based in or willing to work in Ogbomoso.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational and analytical abilities.
• Good communication skills and ability to work independently and in a team.
• Demonstrated integrity, accountability, and a proactive attitude toward financial management.

Required skills

• Proficiency in QuickBooks.
• Proficiency in Sage.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
