Accountant – General Ledger & Receivables

About the role

We are looking to hire an experienced, detail‑oriented accounting professional responsible for overseeing the general ledger and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The role involves managing accounts receivable, fixed assets, accruals, and supporting month‑end close processes.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the general ledger and ensure timely, accurate classification of accounts and transactions.
• Manage Accounts Receivable activities, including KYC documentation, pro‑forma and subsequent invoice preparation, delivery monitoring, payment follow‑ups and collection tracking.
• Transmit customer invoices to the Nigeria Revenue Services (NRS) weekly and declare output VAT correctly.
• Maintain a fixed‑asset register, handle capitalization, depreciation, and conduct periodic physical verifications.
• Manage accruals, pre‑payments, petty cash, and cash advances, ensuring timely reconciliation.
• Support month‑end closing, inventory counts, bank reconciliations, and implementation of internal financial policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; ICAN qualification (partial or full) preferred; MSc in Finance or Accounting is an advantage.
• Minimum 5–7 years of accounting experience.
• High level of integrity, confidentiality and excellent attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems such as Sage, QuickBooks or SAP.
• Advanced Excel skills.
