Accountant – Finance & Compliance

About the role

We are seeking a diligent Accountant to join GVA Partners Ltd in Lagos. The role focuses on maintaining statutory payment records, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with Nigerian financial regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records of statutory payments, including Withholding Tax, revenue remittances, and other regulatory obligations.
• Prepare and monitor monthly budgets covering payroll, procurement, and operational expenses.
• Manage petty cash disbursements and keep detailed transaction records.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations such as Tax Clearance, NSITF, and Pension requirements.
• Liaise with external auditors to support timely preparation of audited financial statements and tax documentation.
• Organize and file all accounting and finance records, both electronically and physically.
• Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and statutory requirements.
• Analyse financial data and provide recommendations for cost‑saving and operational improvements.
• Support internal and external audit processes and assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash‑flow planning.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and perform additional finance and administrative duties as assigned.

Required profile

• BSc in Accounting or Finance.
• 3–5 years of post‑NYSC experience, with audit experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and financial reporting standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, numeracy, and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work close to Victoria Island, Lagos.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software – QuickBooks and Sage 50.
