Accountant and Cashier – School Finance Role

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Accountant to support the financial operations of St. Mary Dedication British International School in Benin City. The role involves maintaining accurate records, preparing reports and ensuring compliance with Nigerian regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger entries.
• Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Conduct internal audits and provide financial analysis to support decision‑making.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA) preferred.
• 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and IFRS reporting standards.
• Excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel skills.
• Knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting.
• Financial analysis and budgeting capabilities.
