Technical Superintendent – Offshore Vessels

About the role

Join Smit Lamnalco as a Technical Superintendent in Nigeria, overseeing day‑to‑day maintenance and repair activities for a fleet of offshore support vessels. You will ensure technical reliability, manage budgets, and maximise vessel utilisation while promoting safety and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and execute day‑to‑day preventive maintenance onboard vessels to ensure technical reliability and minimise downtime.
• Supervise, coach and instruct chief engineers and crew, overseeing repairs, subcontractors and dockings within budget and quality standards.
• Allocate and control costs related to repairs, maintenance, damages and modifications, ensuring accurate reporting.
• Interface with classification societies, flag states and other regulatory authorities to maintain vessel technical integrity.
• Promote and monitor Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) standards, leading by example.

Required profile

• At least 7 years of experience as a technical superintendent, port engineer or technical manager in a marine environment.
• Higher or secondary vocational education in mechanical engineering, naval architecture or equivalent.
• Previous experience as a chief engineer on offshore support vessels is preferred.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
