Tax Analyst

About the role

The Tax Analyst will support Ijewere & Co.’s clients in meeting their tax compliance obligations and optimizing their tax positions. Working closely with audit, accounting and advisory teams, the analyst will handle a variety of direct and indirect tax matters for corporate and individual clients.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review direct and indirect tax returns.
• Ensure timely filing of tax returns and payment of tax liabilities.
• Conduct tax research and provide technical support on legislation and regulations.
• Assist in tax planning and advisory assignments to optimize client tax positions.
• Support tax audits, investigations, and assessments by tax authorities.
• Prepare responses to tax authority queries and correspondence.
• Analyze financial statements for tax compliance and reporting.
• Identify tax risks, compliance gaps, and opportunities for process improvement.
• Assist in tax due diligence, health checks, and transaction support engagements.
• Maintain accurate tax records and client documentation.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and technical memoranda for clients and internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with audit, accounting, and advisory teams on multidisciplinary engagements.
• Monitor changes in tax laws and communicate impacts to clients and professionals.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, taxation, or a related field.
• Professional qualification (or progress toward qualification) such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, CTA, or equivalent is preferred.
• 2–5 years of relevant experience in taxation, preferably within a public accounting or professional services firm.
• Strong understanding of corporate taxation, personal taxation, VAT/GST, withholding taxes, and other applicable tax regulations.
