Special Care (SCBU) Nurse

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Neonatal Special Care Nurse to provide dedicated care for premature, low‑birth‑weight and unwell newborns in our Special Care Baby Unit. The role involves close monitoring, treatment, and support for both infants and their families.

Key responsibilities

• Implement nursing care plans for neonates requiring special care.
• Observe and monitor vital signs and overall wellbeing of newborns, providing timely interventions.
• Maintain and operate neonatal equipment such as incubators, phototherapy units, CPAP, syringe pumps, and feeding tubes.
• Administer medications, manage IV access, and support feeding methods including NG/tube feeding.
• Assist with neonatal resuscitation and stabilization procedures.
• Document accurate records and reports while upholding patient confidentiality.
• Provide education and emotional support to parents.
• Ensure a clean, safe, and infection‑free environment.
• Follow standard operating procedures and participate in quality improvement projects.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Midwife (RM) with a valid practising licence from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
• 0–5 years post‑qualification experience, preferably in neonatal care.
• Post‑Basic Diploma in Paediatric/Neonatal Nursing is an advantage.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification is a plus.

• Shift‑based schedule including day (8:00 am–6:00 pm) and night (6:00 pm–8:00 am) shifts, weekends included.
