Senior Backend Engineer – TypeScript/NestJS

About the role

Duplo is building a banking‑as‑a‑service platform that enables companies to launch financial products quickly. As a Senior Backend Engineer you will own the design and delivery of high‑performance, reliable services that handle money movement at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems using TypeScript and NestJS.
• Architect robust service boundaries and maintainable distributed architectures.
• Design and optimise PostgreSQL schemas for high‑volume transaction processing, including indexing and data‑integrity patterns.
• Implement Redis for caching, coordination, rate‑limiting and distributed locking.
• Ensure deployment safety, observability, and incident response on Docker, Kubernetes and AWS.
• Collaborate with DevOps to align infrastructure decisions with reliability goals.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead high‑risk, high‑complexity initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong background in financial systems or fintech services.
• Proven ability to break down complex technical problems into actionable work.
• Experience guiding technical decisions and escalating when business impact is significant.
